THINKING IN THE TRUTH
***with Ling Ling Shi***
And God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the
day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and
years, and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the
earth." And it was so. God made two great lights--the greater light to govern
the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars.
God set them in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth,
to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness.
And God saw that it was good.
And there was evening, and there was morning--the fourth day.
Dear friend, welcome to “Thinking in the Truth”. Today, I want to share with you God’s Word in Genesis 1:14-19. May we grow together in the Truth.
In the previous “Thinking in the Truth”- Genesis 1:1-13, I shared with you God’s creation of the earth on the first, second, and the third day. On the first day, God created light to end darkness, empty and formless on the earth. The earth started with day and night. On the second day, God separated water from water and made the sky. On the third day, God created the land, seas and various plants and trees. Today, I am going to share God’s creation on the fourth day - the creation of two great lights and stars.
- We know that all plants and trees need light to live, but have you noticed from the previous scriptures that God told us before he created the Sun and Moon- the two great lights, He already created plants and trees. This is a very important message that tells us the light he sent to earth (before the Sun was created) is the light from himself, and that Light is the source of all kinds of light in the Universe . The Light God sent to the earth in the first day to terminate the endless darkness on the earth was the light from Him directly. It surpasses all other kinds of light and contains all life-essential elements for all creatures, such as the plants and trees.
- These scriptures reveal to us that the two great lights God created on the third day are different than the Light He sent to the earth on the first day. The Sun is not the ultimate source of the Light, it is one of the lights specifically made by God for earth. The true and big Light and the source of lights is the Light God sent to earth on first day. It is written in 1 John 1:5: God is Light!
- These scriptures reveal to us that the Sun and Moon - the two great lights God made for the earth - are prepared for human beings “to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years, and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth.” The Truth from the Holy Bible regarding the two lights and stars has been gradually discovered by human beings through science and has been experienced by human beings throughout generations. The Holy Bible is the living book and Word from our living God; it is the past, present, and future, everlasting. God’s Word is not limited or controlled by time, space, or understanding and knowledge of human beings. Whether accepted by mankind or not, His Word will never change and His Word will never be destroyed by any kinds of forces. God’s Word stands firm and be true and without shadows. No matter if human beings understand it or not, the Holy Bible is the Truth from our living God-the Creator of the Universe.
- The discovering ability of science is God’s grace to human beings to let human beings have the knowledge to understand him and ourselves. The discoveries and developments in science should be strong testimonies to God’s living book that He wrote to human beings through his chosen prophets and disciples. The purpose of science let human beings discover the Truth of God and get more closer to him, and to thank him deeply.
May you come to God with a grateful, humble heart to praise him and worship him and glorify him for what he has done for human beings. From the beginning to present, God never withdrew his loving hands on the earth and consistently works for his earthly children by his mercy, forgiveness, compassion, grace, and everlasting love. How great you are, our Father in heaven !
God is Love
